Silver Sheen Moonstone

Moonstone from Myanmar with a pure white adularescence. Eye clean stone with a very high dome for the small size of the stone, would do best with accent piece as around the stone rather than as a solitaire. Black/oxidized back plate is recommended to increase the contrast and pop of the glow. This is orthoclase moonstone, the rarer solid colored moonstone. Moonstone is actually used to refer to two different minerals, orthoclase moonstone and its cousin ‘rainbow moonstone’ which is really just white labradorite and tends to be much more heavily included with significant color variation. Technically orthoclase is the only ‘true’ moonstone as labradorite’s color is caused by a different mechanism but it is just a case of common names in gems being misleading.
