Green Beryl
$20.00
This is a green beryl from Brazil with a natural etched surface. I cut this with slightly beveled ends and then polished the ends and back, but the surfaces running along the crystal direction have been left totally as I found them. Probably best to be prong set as the side on the top of the photo is beveled under. I did cut the top and bottom to an even height so it could be bezel set too if that’s something you’re comfortable with. Feel free to ask to see more images if that’s not clear enough. Beryl is a gem family, like quartz is, which has varieties, like purple quartz being amethyst. Beryl’s varieties are aquamarine (blue) morganite (pink) heliodor (yellow) and emerald (green) however this is NOT emerald. Emerald is colored by different elements than green beryl, and green beryl is the only appropriate term for this material. This is more similar to the color of unheated aquamarine but it is not that either, I very much doubt heating would remove the yellow that makes this green. The IGS has a good article on it if you’ve read this far and are interested, dm me and I’ll find it for you.
