Hell’s Canyon Petrified Wood
$45.00
A very sought-after petrified wood from the Hell’s River area of the Oregon-Idaho border. Collected in the 1960s by a single rock hound and only brought to market after his death about 10 years ago. No longer available because in the mean time the collection area was flooded by the Hell’s River dam. This does not have the highly prized druzy worm holes that some of this wood contains, but it has the interesting herringbone effect of the compressed wood grain. Thought to be collected from a single fossilized ancient sequoia tree (or at least only a couple, there was never much of it)
